HOLIDAYS!

I love the holiday season! It really is the most wonderful time of the year! IT'S SNOWING! I'm so so happy! I love the snow. I got into my car this morning to go to school and the radio was playing it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. It certainly is! I met a girl this morning who said that this is the first snow she's ever seen! She was just going on about how beautiful and wonderful it lookos! It reminded me of how much I really love the snow.
My family, since I can remember, has celebrated the holidays starting the day after Halloween. This is called the holiday season, and why not enjoy it for the entire 2 months that it is around. Why not be happy and grateful for both months? That means the whole thing. The lights, the decorations, the music, the spirit. Christmas music, in my family, cannot be listened to before November 1st; however, my dad and I made a rule to suffice our Christmas music addiction. We have 2 "cheat days" per year. I took one of my cheat days in August this year and one in October... :) Now I can listen to it whenever I want. Christmas music is an amazing thing. It can make people happy in the worst of times. By the way, if any of you are interested, there are SEVERAL radio stations playing Christmas music now if you are as much of a fanatic as I am. So, Monday I had the day off school because I passed my test on Friday. I decided to put up the Christmas decorations! I'm so happy! I spent all day setting up the tree, putting out the Nativity scenes, putting up lights, and watching Christmas movies. It was WONDERFUL! I discovered that I have 5 nativity scenes! Oh my, it's not as many as my Suegra, but I'll get there some day. My Suegra collects Nativity scenes from different states and countries, not to mention that in Mexico they celebrate what it called Three Wise Men and she has many many sets of those as well. It's amazing. I'll put pictures up when she puts them out. Well, I hope you all enjoy your holidays as much as I do. It is such an amazing time of the year! Make sure to tell those people you love that you love them, and you're grateful for them!
Also, my honey did the lesson for family home evening Monday night, and it was wonderful. He talked about being grateful for the little things in life, and if we do, we'll be happy. He told us this story that happened in one of his classes. The teacher asked them to write down something that would make you happy and then share it with the class. Everone proceeded to tell what they wrote, and they were things like a million dollars, a nice car, a villa in spain. Then one kid said cocoa puffs, and everyone started laughing. The teacher told them to stop laughing because he was going to be the happiest one. Because he was happy and satisfied with something as small as a bowl of cereal, he was going to be happy. As opposed to the rest of them that would take large amounts of money and nice cars to be happy. I was thinking about this, and especially during this season it's nice to remember the little things. Remember the sunrise, the green grass, the white snow, the bowl of cereal. If we are grateful for the little things, we can more easily become happy. Have a wonderful day! And enjoy the beautiful snow!

Hi Jessica, this is Becky Shober (formally Hubrich), I found you on Heather's blog. I am also a HUGE fan of the Holiday's and I always get really giddy the day after Halloween when they start playing Christmas music on FM 100 and other stations. I usually put up my tree on Thanksgiving, but you inspired me to do it earlier this year. At the end of the Holiday's I ALWAYS feel like It wasn't long enough. Why not celebrate all through November as well?! To heck with the social norm! Anyway...it's fun to see updates on you and your family!

What an awesome post. Isn't there a quote about "Happiness is a decision, not a destination" or something like that? Your post really made me think of it. What a wonderful perspective to start off the weekend. Now I'm just thinking about all of the things I've been blessed with. I'm glad we're in the same class. See ya on Tuesday!

P.S. I'm all for the Christmas music too. (Just as long as it's AFTER Halloween--not before or the day of.)

I'm interested in knowing what your favorite Christmas tunes are to listen too. I'm trying to develop a playlist for the girls's iPods.

There's just something about the whole holiday season that seems to make people happier and the world seem better.
